Southfield, Michigan – Movement Search & Delivery www.movementsearch.com/jobs is working with a manufacturer of new technologies for the automotive industry. Due to recent growth within the company, they are on the hunt for a Vehicle Packaging/Integration Engineer.
What you will do: The Vehicle Packaging/Integration Engineer works with international, multifunctional teams such as styling, performance, and product development to create vehicle level packaging solutions. The role performs vehicle level packaging integrations such as general arrangement, typical sections check, packaging zone and limit models, benchmarking competitor’s vehicle packaging and engineering sections to ensure the best engineering packaging solutions are applied to new vehicle programs. The position develops, refines, and finalizes criteria and typical sections and performs appropriate component and vehicle compartment level studies/alternatives, recommending direction based on cost, mass, timing, design for assembly, variation and other program imperatives. Additionally, the Vehicle Packaging/Integration Engineer benchmarks industry vehicle packaging solutions and typical sections and participates in design reviews on a regular basis.
What you will need: Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering. Current experience in vehicle level packaging within the automotive industry. Understanding of engineering theory and principles of design. Functional knowledge of occupant compartment and body development from the initial stage of architectural development through to final design concept. Experience with electric vehicles is a plus. Functional knowledge of vehicle level packaging requirements, including vehicle general arrangement, typical engineering sections, packaging zone and limit models, packaging engineering criteria, vision check and regulations, etc. Strong working knowledge of CATIA.
