Troy, Michigan – Movement Search & Delivery www.movementsearch.com is working with a multi-national leader in automobile electronics. Due to their recent growth, the company has opened a position for a Tooling Buyer.
What you will do: The Tooling Buyer coordinates activities of tooling cost estimations, engineering, tool design, and other departments, to facilitate procurement of tooling. The role assists in evaluation of tooling orders received from production engineering department to determine whether tooling should be manufactured in-house or procured from outside vendor, while evaluating tooling feasibility of plastics and metals components. The position estimates tooling cost based on local and international markets, investigates new available tooling technologies in the global markets, and examines blueprints to determine tool requirements and special materials or items to be ordered. Additionally, the Tooling Buyer records tool requirement data on tooling order, and routes order to tool design or purchasing department, prepares requisitions for items to be purchased, and maintains manual or computerized records of tooling procurement, status, and disposition information, while also providing technical support between internal facilities and subsidiaries.
What you will need: Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering. Current experience in tier-one automotive. CAD experience. Knowledge of plastic/metal components. Tooling design/manufacturing experience. Injection process experience. Knowledge of electro-mechanical products.
