Tier One Project Buyer

Wixom, Michigan – Movement Search & Delivery   www.movementsearch.com/jobs   is working with a 10,000 employee tier one supplier to the automotive industry. Due to their growth, they have a newly created position for a Project Buyer.

What you will do: The Project Buyer supports the quotation team during the quoting process with market prices and/or estimates for raw materials and bought in components. The position participates in the quotation process to provide market prices, negotiates contracts, which achieve long term price reductions, quality and service objectives for new projects, and develops sources for the supply of raw materials and components for new projects, ensuring selection complements the purchasing strategy. The role realizes areas for cost savings/improvements during the design phase, participates in project teams for the development of new articles and implementation of engineering changes during the design phase and ensures that all bought in components are sourced in line with the set timing plan, quality requirements and cost targets. Additionally, the Project Buyer develops tooling suppliers for new projects, monitors the supply market through regular communications with the strategic buyers, visits at exhibitions and suppliers, internet and magazines, and obtains all relevant information (drawings, specifications, work plans) internally from the technical departments, while also analyzing cost structures through cost and value analysis.

What you will need: Bachelor’s Degree. Current procurement experience in an engineering or technical area with progressive, high volume manufacturing environment (ideally automotive). Experience with mechanisms is a plus.
