Supplier Quality Engineer – Steering

Ann Arbor, Michigan – Movement Search & Delivery   www.movementsearch.com/jobs    is working with a 100-year-old company with a large footprint in the automotive tier-one space. Due to their growth, they have several newly created positions for a Supplier Quality Engineer.

What you will do: The Supplier Quality Engineer ensures that the quality of purchased components meet or exceed all requirements, performs audits of current and potential suppliers, and reports findings and recommendation to management. The role communicates PPAP requirements to suppliers for new components and engineering changes, reviews PPAP submissions, establishes quality standards with suppliers for purchased components, and facilitates technical reviews with suppliers for all new components. The position coordinates new component kick-offs with suppliers for purchased components, tracks status of new part development and PPAP utilizing APQP, and liaisons to suppliers regarding component quality issues during launch phase. Additionally, the Supplier Quality Engineer works with suppliers to counter-measure quality problems, supports production plant supplier quality, and coordinates resolution of supplier issues from overseas plants, while also mentoring new or developing co-workers with training and best practices.

What you will need: Bachelor degree in Engineering. Electronic manufacturing experience. Current experience in supplier quality. Knowledge and understanding of electrical motors, ECU’s, or controllers. Experience with DFMEA/PFMEA, DFM/DFQ/DFA, Control plans, Metrology and gage R&R, Run @ Rate capacity analysis tools etc. Understanding of various lab equipment: oscilloscopes, analyzers, CMM and GD&T tools. Understanding of Six Sigma methodologies. Knowledge of Process Certification/Process Robustness. Knowledge of AIAG PPAP process.
