Supplier Quality Engineer

Auburn Hills, Michigan – Movement Search & Delivery   www.movementsearch.com/jobs   is working with an international supplier of tier one products to the automotive industry. Due to their recent growth, they have opened a position for a Supplier Quality Engineer.

What you will do: The Supplier Quality Engineer assess and qualifies new suppliers, works with purchasing to manage Commodity Strategies and Supplier Selection, and ensures all aspects of the supplier agreement are closed prior to the awarding of a new business. The role ensures the supplier follows the K2 supplier development and advanced quality planning processes, solves process and design problems with suppliers during development/pre-launch, and reports on the supplier development program status. The position manages supplier part approval (PPAP) to completion, establishes quality targets with suppliers, monitors their performance in comparison to these targets, and coordinates supplier quality performance evaluation and workshops. Additionally, the Supplier Quality Engineer conducts audits, manages “Crisis” Supplier through on-site involvement, effective communication and collaborative, and method-based problem solving, and works with commodity buyers to identify and implement cost savings and VA/VE opportunities.

What you will need: Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering. Current experience in automotive supplier quality. APQP, PPAP, FMEA, control plan, and MSA experience. Understanding of TS16949:2002 quality standard. Ability to travel up to 70% depending on launches. Knowledge of automotive assemblies – like half shafts, sealings, differentials, control arms, or gaskets.
