Sr. Optical Engineer

Auburn Hills, Michigan – Movement Search & Delivery    www.movementsearch.com/jobs     is working a tier one supplier of automotive systems and due to the company’s recent growth, they have opened a position for a Sr. Optical Engineer.

What you will do: The Sr. Optical Engineer participates in strategic roadmap development for the group, establishes display architecture and design criteria for the display and HMI systems including HUD and other advanced LED based display technologies, and defines the concept fit into the general vehicle architecture (vehicle integration). The role determines system requirements, current and future, for displays with emphasis on HUD and Augmented Reality technologies and advanced cockpit integration concepts, develops new HUD designs and systems, and provides leadership to suppliers and technical partners. The position builds development platforms (e.g., vehicles), collecting performance data, participatesin customer meetings including business hunting and RFQ activities, demos, etc, and develops and documents functional and diagnostic requirements. Additionally, the Sr. Optical Engineer participates in hardware and software design peer review, DFMEA and full Design review activities, creates and maintains program timing plans to meet project and customer deadlines, and documents/tracks open issues.

What you will need: Master’s Degree in Optical, Opto-mechanical, Photonics Engineering or Physics/Optical Systems. Current experience as an optical engineer. Extensive experience in Displays technologies especially with understanding of the underlying requirements for implementation of such displays in an automotive cockpit. Understanding of optical physics related to HUD systems. Experience in measurement and automotive qualification of display optical and performance criteria (brightness, contract, durability, etc). Understanding of display driver and display interface technology (LVDS, HDMI, Ethernet, etc). Knowledge of and understanding of optics manufacturing. Basic knowledge of digital and analog embedded electronics and related display interfaces.
