Software Manager

Syracuse, New York – Movement Search & Delivery   www.movementsearch.com/jobs   is working with a leading manufacturer of capital equipment for both industrial and consumer use. Due to recent growth within the company, they have opened a new position for a Software Development Manager.

What you will do: The Software Development Manager focuses on planning and tracking the software development and testing activities for a new software tool for modeling and computing of system performance.  The position works with the project’s program manager and is the primary, responsible for planning, tracking and ensure execution of all software development, testing, and quality assurance activities of the project; this includes the coordination of activities performed by a geographically distributed software development team, on- boarding of new software engineers, interaction with the modeling team. Further responsibilities include driving the plan for software development, testing, and maintenance, assisting the program manager with integration of development with the overall plan, and coordinating and tracking progress of onboarding of new engineers. Additionally, the Software Development Manager not only establishes rigorous software development and verification practices, including automated unit and regression testing, but also conducts code reviews and analysis.

What you will need: Bachelor in computer engineering, computer science or other science / engineering area with 5+ years experience managing plans for software development and lifecycle management. Experience with code reviews and establishing best practices. Experience with software analysis, code analysis, requirements analysis, software review, identification of code metrics, system risk analysis, and software reliability analysis.   Experience with the development of mathematical modeling and simulation software and experience with cooling, heating energy management systems is preferred.  Knowledge of software testing and quality assurance methods and practices.
