Software Algorithm Engineer

Auburn Hills, Michigan – Movement Search & Delivery    www.movementsearch.com/jobs     is working a tier one supplier of automotive systems and due to the company’s recent growth, they have opened a position for a Software Algorithm Engineer.

What you will do: The Software Algorithm Engineer participates in strategic roadmap development for the group, helps define the autonomous function feature set catalogue and feature planning, and creates, optimizes, integrates, and debugs the algorithms and functional autonomous driving software supporting the defined feature set (both 1st and 3rd party code). The role works with academic institutions providing the algorithms and helps optimize for production intent, while also integrating the algorithm functions within the functional software code. The position works with software algorithm suppliers and technical partners, helps develop and document functional and diagnostic requirements based on utilized algorithms, and works with hardware and software engineers to manage the specific algorithm requirements. Additionally, the Software Algorithm Engineer helps in the creation of the algorithm related functional and diagnostic test plans, participates in hardware and software design peer review, DFMEA and full Design review activities, and documents and tracks open software issues based on the algorithmic failures and improvement needs. 26

What you will need: Bachelor’s Degree in Software Engineering. Experience in autonomous driving algorithm and functional software development. Experience creating and working with algorithm logic and SW coding for controls, control systems or autonomous driving functions (e.g. autonomous steering, braking, throttle and shift controls for self parking or auto cruise functions). Experience working in C, C++ and modeling tools. Experience working with a total autonomous system algorithms – including controls software, controls hardware and system, and related needed Software code. ISO 26262 – Road Vehicles – Functional Safety Development Process experience a plus. Knowledge of embedded functional Software within 32/64 bit Hardware and integrated sensor technology (LIDAR/RADAR, Cameras, GPS, etc.).
