Project Application Engineer

Roanoke, Virginia – Movement Search and Delivery  www.movementsearch.com/jobs   is working with a world leader in the power generation and water/wastewater treatment industries. Due to their recent growth, the company has opened a position for a Project Application Engineer.

What you will do: The Project Application Engineer develops detail system specifications for drive, motor, transformer, switchgear, sensor and automation equipment suppliers through collaboration with mechanical original equipment manufacturers (OEM) and end-user clients. The role conducts power system studies to ensure that the existing or proposed system is adequate to meet requirements, evaluates supplier proposals to determine the best technical and most cost effective solution for the application, and manages equipment costs, recommending cost reductions when feasible. The position prepares purchase specification and ERP requisition in a timely manner, conducts detailed design reviews, internally and externally, with suppliers and clients, and provides technical and costing information for the preparation of technical proposals. Additionally, the Project Application Engineer creates a network of relationships with clients, mechanical OEM’s, and suppliers for successful project execution, prepares/delivers presentations at technical conferences and client meetings, and provides project management services.

What you will need: Bachelor of Science in electrical engineering. Work experience in specifying, designing, commissioning, and/or maintaining industrial drive, automation, and control systems for complex coordinated industrial systems applications. Knowledge of industrial drive and automation industry standards and continuous improvement. Extensive knowledge in metal rolling and processing automation and process control, automated crane systems, motors and drives design and applications for the metals or crane system industries, and global industrial drive and automation industry standards. Experience in a global company.
