Product Engineer - Shifter Systems

Auburn Hills, Michigan – Movement Search & Delivery    www.movementsearch.com/jobs     is working a tier one supplier of automotive systems and due to the company’s recent growth, they have opened a position for a Product Engineer – Shifter Systems.

What you will do: The Product Engineer – Shifter Systems directs/coordinates projects (with limited guidance from supervisor) from design through production start-up, interprets specifications and provides technical direction to product engineers, design/drafting, test engineers/technicians and model shop personnel, and evaluates proposed engineering changes for impact and feasibility. The role recommends design approaches and solutions to technical problems, develops new products to meet objectives of management and customers, and develops new intellectual property to meet customer/regulatory requirements. The position communicates to engineering management on any customer and competitor activities which may impact operations, supports engineering presentations for program specific technical solutions, and reports weekly on progress and work load status, while also managing active programs within budgetary constraints. Additionally, the Product Engineer – Shifter Systems supports in the preparation of APQP documentation, participates in production tooling/equipment reviews and trial runs, provides professional engineering assistance and consultation to other departments, and supervises and supports planning of internal and external testing in accordance with customer and governmental requirements.

What you will need: Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering. Current experience in product engineering within a tier-one automotive environment. Detailed product knowledge of automatic transmission shifters, brake pedal, parking brake, tire carrier and other mechatronic technologies and designs. Experience in new product design and development. Experience working with cross functional teams and APQP Documents (Timing, DFMEA, DVP&R..). Experience with program management, DFMEA, DVP&R, and GD&T. Knowledge of design of experiments (DOE).
