Principal Engineer - Automotive Sensors

Livonia, Michigan  – Movement Search & Delivery   www.movementsearch.com/jobs     is working with a global, electronics company to identify a Principal Engineer for a newly created role.

What you will do: The Principal Engineer is responsible for designing and validating mechanical components of the switch assemblies, developing and maintaining timing of engineering tasks to support program milestones, developing DFMEA and coordinating computational analysis of components, coordinating prototype builds and validation process and design validation testing. The role interacts with product engineers and customers to assure product performs appropriately in vehicle specifications, participates in cross functional teams in APQP process throughout the product development cycle, and oversees development projects related to customer concerns and cost reductions. Additionally, the Principal Engineer performs failure analysis and problem resolutions, draws conclusions from analysis performed and writing formal reports, prepares and presents analysis performed, reviews finite element analysis of components and assemblies, and coordinates component and assembly tests with product engineers to verify correlation with FEA results.

What you will need: Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering. Experience switch design experience using plastic molding, stampings, and cast products in the automotive industry. Experience with steering column control modules, including multi-function switches, clocksprings and steering angle sensors. Experience in GD&T and tolerance stackup analysis. Knowledge of design, manufacturing, cost and weight constraints. Familiarity and experience with FEA. CAD experience; Unigraphics preferred.
