Dayton, Ohio – Movement Search & Delivery www.movementsearch.com is working with a growing manufacturing client and due to this growth, they have opened a position for a Senior Scientist.
What you will do: The Senior Scientist works with different suppliers to select and test out materials. The role is responsible for helping to formulate wet friction materials on transmission clutch plate applications, while also working in close liaison with mechanical engineers, manufacturing engineers, and outside testing services to arrive at the final product. The position formulates advanced friction materials using experience and education, supervises technicians to conduct inspections and testing as required for materials screening, design verification and product validation, and analyzes data and presents results to management and customers as appropriate. Additionally, the Senior Scientist supervises testing and evaluate data of incoming materials for production approval, investigates manufacturing processes at supplier facilities to improve robustness of friction materials, and investigates raw materials to determine suitability in advanced friction systems.
What you will need: Bachelor’s degree. Experience with materials, testing, formulations, and manufacturing processes. Friction materials, composites, paper-making, saturating, adhesives, and/or lubricants experience a definite plus. An understanding of wet clutch technology a definite plus. Basic training in metrology, inspection, and component testing.
