Plastics Mechanical Design Engineer

Pontiac, Michigan – Movement Search & Delivery   www.movementsearch.com/jobs     is working with a privately held multinational company in the automotive space.  Our 50-year-old client is stable, growing and paid out their bonuses above 100% for the last 4 years and look to continue with strong growth. Because of this, they have a newly created position for a Designer.

What you will do: The Designer acts as a liaison for the Project Engineering group and is responsible for a project from development to the point where it can be delegated to other designers. The role takes styling data and develops a complete model for production or rapid prototype, manipulates math models so that revisions and/or redesigns can be performed, and understands change control system (ECR/ECN) and follow workflow. The position is familiar with all aspects of engineering protocol including Bill of Material, ECR/ECN, and design guidelines, while also producing detail or assembly drawings as required. Additionally, the Designer transfers customer formatted data in the required format and maintains customer contacts.

What you need: Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering. Experience in use of design software. Knowledge of manufacturing processes: injection molding (plastic), die casting, extrusion process for a variety of materials, roll forming and stampings. Working knowledge of GD&T.
