Plant Tooling Engineer

Asheville, North Carolina – Movement Search & Delivery  is working with a leader in manufacturing equipment assemblies for the automotive industry. Due to their growth, they have a newly created position for a Tooling Engineer, south of Asheville.

What you will do: The Tooling Engineer is responsible for the overall tool introduction and life cycle of durable and perishable tooling for the facility. The role plans/develops tooling required for new platforms and the coordination of tooling projects, provides expertise and/or investigate tooling issues on all types of machining centers including specialty machines, and maintains tool documentation, print protocol and tooling database and the dissemination of information to engineering/production. The position determines active versus obsolescence of tooling for facility based on product demand, future need and established procedures, is responsible for tooling trials and optimization studies on production equipment as required, and provides personnel instruction, training and evaluation on tooling which is being introduced. Additionally, the Tooling Engineer monitors and develops improvement in tooling procurement program and is responsible for coordination of tooling project launches, quality and cost improvements and tool testing activity.

What you will need: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering. Current experience in tooling engineering. Expert knowledge of machining cutting tools. Working knowledge of GD&T, cutting tool geometry, high volume machining processes. Strong tooling troubleshooting experience.
