Plant Production Manager

Columbia, South Carolina – Movement Search & Delivery   www.movementsearch.com/jobs   is working with an industry leading automotive company located north of Columbia, SC.   Due to a recent advancement, they have a newly opened position for a Production Manager.

What you will do: This role will be responsible for 100+ direct and indirect reports over both production and maintenance.  This role is for an experienced leader in lean manufacturing principles implementation and team skills development/coaching on the shop floor to achieve practical and sustainable productivity improvements.  This position will focus  problem solving analysis and team skills development/coaching on the shop floor to achieve true root cause identification and elimination, preferably using PDCA.

What you will need: Bachelor’s Degree, Engineering HIGHLY preferred.  Current experience in a high volume manufacturing environment, preferably automotive. Quantifiable leadership skills managing production/maintenance supervisors, not just technicians.  The ability and desire to be promoted into a plant management role.   Lean manufacturing training required, including in depth knowledge of key lean principles: Value stream mapping, kaizen, standard work, visual management, 6S, SMED, etc. Change agent with track record of leading and achieving process improvements throughout the organization.  History of creating a “lean culture” in an organization through shop floor action teams.
