Plant Manager-Flexible Packaging


Arlington Heights, Illinois  – Movement Search & Delivery   is working with a leading Tier-one supplier to the automotive industry. Due to their recent growth, the company has a newly opened position for a Plant Manager on the north side of Chicago.

What you will do: The Plant Manager is responsible for managing the production operations of the plant of 150, while also assisting in upgrading the supervisory and operators talent and skills bases to achieve growth and meet market needs such as reduced cost, efficient production cycle times, uptimes and reliable delivery. The role researches, plans, targets and controls reductions in costs of operations, ensure that operating plans and methods achieve maximum plant performance and reliability, and coordinates plant schedules with the maintenance department to ensure equipment is maintained. The position sets manning requirements and schedules to meet customer demands, participates in formulating and administering company policies, and manages policy deployment in the areas of lean manufacturing techniques, quality, cost reduction, complete and on-time delivery, safety, customer satisfaction, employee relations, visual controls and plant performance measures. Additionally, the Plant Manager confers with the Operations Manager and other managers to review achievements and discuss required changes in goals or objectives resulting from current status and conditions, reviews analyses of activities, costs, operations, and forecast data to determine department progress toward stated goals and objectives, and over see manufacturing operating reports to resolve operational, manufacturing, and facility problems.

What you will need:= Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or technical related field is preferred. Minimum of 8-10 years of progressive leadership experience in a manufacturing environment. Experience in flexible packaging and/or flexographic printing required. 5+ years’ experience using an ERP system. Previous experience implementing Kaizen, SQF, Lean Manufacturing and GMP processes. Experience maintaining confidential information and the ability to handle issues with discretion and good judgment.  Must have strong attention to detail, the ability to work independently and excellent collaboration skills to partner effectively across all business units and states.  Planning and project management skills including the ability to prioritize multiple projects and deadlines; Strong problem-solving skills are essential. Spanish speaking language capability preferred. Demonstrated strong relationship building skills with production employees and staff. Previous experience managing in a unionized manufacturing environment preferred.
