Lansing, Michigan – Movement Search and Delivery www.movementsearch.com is working with a growing, diversified, publicly traded 40-year-old company that is a leading supplier to the commercial automotive industry. Due to their growth, they have a newly created position for a Network Engineer, southwest of Lansing.
What you will do: The Network Engineer is responsible for receiving, recording, and reconciling customer/end-user technical questions in a timely and professional manner as well as managing performance of the local area network (LAN) and maintaining LAN security. The role acquires, installs, and maintains local area network hardware such as workstations, laptops, thin clients, printers, phones, network devices, etc, analyzes/resolves network hardware, software, and performance problems, and collaborates with management and department leaders to assess capacity needs. The position conducts research on network products, services, protocols, and standards to remain abreast of developments in the networking industry, contracts with specialists or technical personnel to solve problems, and designs/deploys company LANs, WANs, and wireless networks, including servers, routers, hubs, switches, UPS’s, security appliances and other hardware. Additionally, the Network Engineer ensures backups of enterprise data, evaluates vendor products in hardware, software and telecommunications equipment and provides guidance to junior members of the team.
What you will need: Associates degree in Information Technology. Current experience in network engineering. ITIL Practitioner v3, Microsoft, SonicWall, Cisco and/or VMware certifications preferred. Technical knowledge of Network and PC/Server operating systems, Telephone systems, including CISCO, network structure, security, and function, VMWare, NetApp, QNAP SANS, Cisco USC, and Windows operating systems and Active Directory. Understanding of applicable data privacy practices and laws.
