Motor Design Engineer

Benton Harbor, Michigan – Movement Search & Delivery   www.movementsearch.com/jobs   is working with an international manufacturer. Due to their recent growth, the company has opened a position for a Motor Design Engineer – Mechanical.

What you will do: The Motor Design Engineer – Mechanical works with EES Drive Technology Leader, EES Integrators and Platform Integrators to design, develop and deliver motor drive solutions into platforms to achieve attribute and product performance targets. The role translates technical/sub-system targets into module/component targets, drives component/module trade-offs to achieve optimum performance vs cost vs schedule, and owns/contributes to motor design elements and performance attributes (thermal, structural, material, NVH) including design for manufacturability. The position is responsible for the project management of projects including FMEA, DVP&R, project schedule, risk mitigation plan, supplier coordination, etc, while also owning test-to-learn process, data collection and analysis of results. Additionally, the Motor Design Engineer – Mechanical aligns current capability of architecture, supply base, manufacturing, customer solutions to attribute targets (Project KPIs) and is accountable for creation of libraries and capture/reuse of knowledge.

What you will need: Mechanical Engineering Degree. Industry experience and knowledge in electrical machine thermal analysis (Analytical & Empirical approaches, software MotorCAD). Strong expertise in structure design and analysis (including motor and transmission structure such as gear box, shifter). Proficiency with FMEA, DVP&R, Lean PD, OPEX, A3s.
