Mechanical Product Engineer

Auburn Hills, Michigan – Movement Search & Delivery   www.movementsearch.com/jobs   is working with a tier-one supplier for the automotive manufacturing industry. Due to this recent growth, they have opened a position for a Mechanical Product Engineer.

What you will do: The Mechanical Product Engineer performs product engineering functions as directed by the engineering manager. The role is responsible for product design, engineering and development of assigned programs, creates and maintains DFMEA, initiates Engineering Change Notices for engineering changes, and leads multi-disciplined design reviews on programs assigned. The position understands, interprets, and applies design solutions based on CAE analysis, maintains BOM on assigned products, writes engineering change orders for engineering changes, and coordinates prototype builds on assigned programs, including development of prototype build control plan. Additionally, the Mechanical Product Engineer performs root cause analysis for test or production issues, monitors individual program status and reports this information to Engineering Manager and Program Manager, while also generating cost reduction ideas.

What you will need: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering. Product design experience of electro-mechanical systems. Experience with DFMEA, DFM, DFA. Experience dimensioning and applying tolerances to components and assemblies. Working knowledge of GD&T principles. Experience with design for manufacturability/assembly (mechanisms, metal stampings, plastic injection molded parts, die cast parts, gears etc). 3D modeling experience (Pro-E, UG/NX or CATIA V5). Experience in designing gears and performing gear calculations. experience in formal root cause analysis methodology. Red X or 8D is preferred. Experience in working with CAE analysis team (FEA, ADAMS, Moldflow etc). German or Spanish language ability is a plus.
