Manufacturing Engineer

Auburn Hills, Michigan – Movement Search & Delivery   www.movementsearch.com/jobs   is working with a tier-one supplier for the automotive manufacturing industry. Due to this recent growth, they have opened a position for a Manufacturing Engineer.

What you will do: The Mechanical Engineer is responsible for leading initial equipment design, development, build, run-off, and launch of assembly cells for multiple Power Access products. The role (approximately once per month) travels to other company facilities and equipment vendors to support equipment design, build, debug, runoff, and launch efforts for multiple new assembly lines, while also evaluating/approving all phases of new equipment construction, including error-proofing, First-Time Quality (FTQ), ergonomics, capacity / throughput, uptime, etc., including a detailed run-at-rate at the vendor facility. The position assists product engineering to improve product design using DFM/DFA techniques, ergonomic and workflow process evaluation, and lean manufacturing concepts, develops Initial PFMEA, ensuring the assembly lines address all potential failure modes, and develops initial assembly process for new assembly lines. Additionally, the Manufacturing Engineer participates/supports quote activities, assists in prototype build events, and supports continuous improvement by keeping abreast of latest technologies.

What you will need: BS in Engineering. Current experience in manufacturing engineering within a tier-one automotive supplier. Experience with development and fabrication of assembly lines. Automation and End-of-Line testing experience. Secondary equipment experience (DC electric screwdriving, peening, riveting, sensing, part marking, vision systems, controls, etc.). Experience with DFMEA and PFMEA creation and failure mode verification of assembly lines. Experience with DFM/DFA techniques and Kaizen philosophy. Experience with error-proofing concepts, implementation, and verification. Working knowledge of GD&T principles. Experience managing multiple projects concurrently and able to manage/set priorities. Experience in closures is preferred. Bilingualism in Spanish is a plus.
