Lead Materials Manager

Sumter, South Carolina – Movement Search & Delivery   www.movementsearch.com   is working with a national manufacturer of consumer products and industrial goods. Due to recent growth within the company, they have opened a position for a Materials Manager.

What you will do: The Materials Manager manages activities related to purchasing, material requirements planning, inventory control, warehousing, and receiving. The role manages the material control functions, manages the planning and establishment of production schedules, monitoring of material inventories, tracking of progress of production and reviewing of factors which affect production schedules, and manages the purchasing and inventory control functions. The position provides support to production scheduling on all material flow issues to meet production schedules and customer requirements, ensures customer needs are met by coordinating shipping efforts, and maintains optimum inventory levels to ensure on-time deliveries to meet customer requirements while maximizing turns, minimizing carrying costs and premium transportation charges. Additionally, the Materials Manager ensures purchasing practices and policies support honest, fair and ethical relationships with suppliers, is responsible for continuing programs of exploration for new materials, suppliers and processes, and keeps abreast of trends, developments and conditions within supplier markets.

What you will need: BS in Materials Management, Sourcing or related field. American Production and Inventory Control Society (APICS) certification. Institute for Supply Management (ISM) certification preferred. Materials experience that includes purchasing, planning, forecasting and inventory control management in a heavy manufacturing environment. Previous experience with steel procurement preferred. Extensive experience generating and analyzing statistical forecasts using spreadsheets, SAP and Demand solutions or other forecast tools.
