Lead Commodity Specialist - Global Electronics

Auburn Hills, Michigan – Movement Search & Delivery    www.movementsearch.com/jobs     is working a tier one supplier of automotive systems and due to the company’s recent growth, they have opened a position for a Lead Commodity Specialist – Global Electronics.

What you will do: The Lead Commodity Specialist – Global Electronics defines/implements the commodity strategy, plans and projects, establishes a preferred supplier list that meets the company’s requirements globally, and defines contracts, terms and conditions with suppliers in accordance with company’s standards. The role rationalizes the company’s supplier base, develops key suppliers to meet the commodity’s strategic objectives, and conducts market testing of specified commodities on an annual basis to ensure competitive sourcing. The position supports the use of the appropriate company and customer procedures, ensures that all statutory regulations specific to Health & Safety and Environment standards are adhered to, and evaluates active supply base vendors on a scheduled basis. Additionally, the Lead Commodity Specialist – Global Electronics investigates emerging markets to identify and deliver a new potential supplier base and supervises, leads, evaluates, and develops departmental personnel to work in a team based, continuous improvement environment.

What you will need: Bachelor’s Degree. Electronics purchasing/buyer experience at an Automotive Tier 1 or Tier 2 supplier. Experience purchasing electronic components: PCBs, silicon components that are assembled onto PCBs, Micro-controllers, Board mounted connectors, and Electronic sensors. Ability to travel up to 30-40% globally. Experience working with and purchasing from electronic component distributors including understanding of the registration process for electronic components in the automotive industry. Experience purchasing software and electronics/software engineering services is desired. Experience with software licensing is desired. Experience with contract Electronic Manufacturing Services (EMS) suppliers (either a buyer of EMS assembled PCBs or as a purchasing employee of an EMS) is a plus. Purchasing experience at a supervisor level is desired. Prior experience purchasing Electrical/Mechatronic Components including: harnesses, switches, motors, solenoids is desired.
