Troy, Michigan – Movement Search & Delivery   www.movementsearch.com    is working with a multi-national leader in automobile electronics. Due to their recent growth, the company has opened a position for a Project Tooling Engineer.

What you will do: The Project Tooling Engineer coordinates activities of tooling cost estimations, engineering, tool design, purchasing, and other departments, to facilitate production or procurement of tooling, while also being responsible for setting up tooling design for production. The role evaluates tooling orders received from production engineering department to determine whether tooling should be manufactured in-house or procured from outside vendor, evaluates tooling feasibility of plastics and metals components, and estimates tooling cost based on local and international markets. The position investigates new available tooling technologies in the global markets, examines blueprints to determine tool requirements and special materials or items to be ordered, and calculates and records tool requirement data on tooling order, and routes order to tool design or purchasing department. Additionally, the Project Tooling Engineer prepares requisitions for items to be purchased, maintains manual or computerized records of tooling procurement, status, and disposition information, and coordinates/provides technical support between internal facilities and subsidiaries.

What you will need: Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering with experience in tooling. Experience in design. Mid-range automotive manufacturing experience. Experience with CAD systems. Design of plastic/metal components.  Injection process experience.
