Hardware Control Engineer-AC/DC Drives

Roanoke, Virginia – Movement Search and Delivery  www.movementsearch.com/jobs   is working with a world leader in the power generation and water/wastewater treatment industries. Due to their recent growth, the company has opened a position for a Hardware Control Engineer.

What you will do: The Hardware Control Engineer develops detail specifications for suppliers through collaboration with mechanical original equipment manufacturers (OEM) and end-user clients and creates electrical circuit drawings that accurately reflect each project’s PC, PLC & I/O, AC and DC drives, power distribution panels, operator station devices, and other control equipment to ensure a design that meets project requirements and quality standards. The role creates the AC and DC control power distribution drawings, relay, network and sensor interface drawings, ensures “as shipped” systems meet all client requirements as defined in the project contract, and tracks all revisions to the IO list and drawings, complying with established change control procedures. The position creates/updates the project drawings to support site commissioning activities, develops project documentation, such as drawing lists, panel lists, enclosure layout drawings, spare parts lists, and equipment lists, in accordance with standard design standards and project requirements, and controls document distribution, and archiving using established document control procedures. Additionally, the Hardware Control Engineer develops engineering standards and engineering practices, communicates/collaborates with mechanical OEM and client engineers, and provides timely technical guidance to internal and external clients and suppliers.

What you will need: Bachelor of Science degree in electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, mechatronics engineering or related field. Design experience, specializing in circuit design and control panel design. Knowledge of industry standards related to electrical aspects of control panel design including device selection, cable selection etc. Knowledge of industrial PLC and associated I/O selection. Knowledge and use of AutoCAD or equivalent drawing tool. Proficiency in Visio 2003 Drawing Tools. Proficiency in EPLAN. Demonstrated knowledge of Visual Basic programming or equivalent to write macros to automate drawing generation process.
