Gas Turbine Design Engineer

Orlando, Florida – Movement Search and Delivery   www.movementsearch.com    is working with a 100 year old power generation company. Our client is stable, growing and R&D focused. Due to their growth, they have a newly created position for a Gas Turbine Design Engineer.

What you will do: The Gas Turbine Design Engineer supports the design and development of gas turbine components by leading and performing engineering tasks, leads design and development programs that are assigned based on risk assessments and management confidence in the engineer’s capabilities, and demonstrates creativity in the methods used and products/services being provided to enhance customer satisfaction (speed of delivery, quality, reliability, cost, & performance). The role develops 3-dimensional computer models and drawings of gas turbine parts and subassemblies using ProEngineer CAD software ensuring dimensional tolerancing requirements are accurately defined following ASME Y14.5, while also performing analysis of gas turbine components and subassemblies (when required) using ANSYS finite element analysis software, checking calculation results using hand calculations or alternative methods.  Additionally, the Gas Turbine Design Engineer provides technical support for sourcing, installing, servicing and repairing turbine components, consumable hardware, and subassemblies, provides technical support to field service personnel with judgment on interpretation of design criteria, evaluation and resolution of field issues, and preparation of work instructions, and interfaces with customer’s on technical matters, to support sales & marketing, field service , or manufacturing groups.

What you will need: BS degree in Mechanical Engineering or Aerospace Engineering. Mid-range engineering experience. Current experience in a design role. Knowledge of gas turbine engineering including overall turbine configuration, gas turbine configuration, and properties of materials commonly used in turbines, and geometric dimensioning and tolerancing per ASME Y14.5. Advanced personal computer skills including graphics (Pro/ENGINEER, AutoCAD), Finite Element Analysis (ANSYS), MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Access), etc.
