Functional Safety Engineer

Plymouth, Michigan – Movement Search & Delivery   www.movementsearch.com/jobs   is working with an international, tier-one automotive supplier. Due to their recent growth, they have opened a Functional Safety Engineer.

What you will do: The Functional Safety Engineer plans/coordinates all necessary functional safety activities encompassing the life cycle of the product, while also defining project responsibilities regarding functional safety (safety plan). The role coordinates the distribution of responsibility between customer and company, including involved internal departments and creates/maintains all necessary work products (e.g. hazard & risk analysis, safety requirements). The position is responsible for verifying successful implementation of safety features, validiting that required safety has been achieved, and guides, coaches, and supports implementation of functional safety on all levels (system and sub-system) of the project. Additionally, the Functional Safety Engineer creates/publishes the reports regarding the functional safety status of the projects.

What you will need: Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering. Current experience in functional safety within automotive manufacturing. Expert knowledge regarding pertinent functional safety standards e.g. (IEC 61508, ISO 26262). Requirement based automotive system development experience. Experience with DOORS, FMEA, FMEDA, FTA, ISO 26262, and risk analysis (HARA). Ability to travel internationally up to 25%.
