Philadelphia, Pennsylvania – Movement Search & Delivery www.movementsearch.com/jobs is working with a world leader in the chemical engineering and development space. Due to their growth, they have a newly created position for an Electrocoating Formulation Scientist.
What you will do: The Electrocoating Formulation Scientist advances the fundamental understanding of Electrocoat technology and develops improved coating formulations in support of growth initiatives. The role develops electrocoat formulas to meet targeted application/appearance, film properties, and cost specifications, supports scale-up activities by providing formulas that follow lean manufacturing principles and promote quality control, and addresses/corrects manufacturing and customer quality issues including determination of root cause for product failure and consumption of off-spec materials. The position strengthens/improves variable cost position through qualification of alternative suppliers, materials, and processes, assesses market needs and drives technology development to capture opportunities. Additionally. the Electrocoating Formulation Scientist represents technology in cross-functional business teams that include members from Marketing, Sales, Supply Chain, Sourcing, and Manufacturing, while also supervising technical assistant and organizing work flow, including setting and meeting key deadlines.
What you will need: Bachelor’s Degree in Chemistry, Polymer Science, Chemical Engineering, or Material Science. Experience developing high-performance electrocoat systems with a deep understanding of epoxy and acrylic chemistries. Knowledge of designed experimentation and statistical data analysis are a plus. Light-vehicle electrocoating experience preferred over industrial electrocoating. Experience running projects.
