Forging Engineer - Tier One

Troy, Michigan – Movement Search & Delivery   www.movementsearch.com    is working with a world leader in the automotive industry. Our 100 year old publicly traded client has engaged our services to help identify a Forging Engineer for their growing business.

What you will do: The Forging Engineer is responsible for coordinating new product initiatives and key process improvements for global forging operations and for supporting the development of Global Precision Forging Strategy and Technology Roadmap with a focus on advanced technology applications in Die Design, Simulation, Temperature Controls, Die Materials, Coatings and Productivity. The position analyzes/optimizes hot/warm forging material flow to minimize waste and optimize die life, reduces die material cost through application of technology driven material, coatings and control treatment processes, benchmarks internal and external processes to ensure technology and cost advantages are maintained, and standardizes best practices into facilities globally. The role performs research, design, and development of forging processes including production flow and production equipment, reviews, analyzes, designs, and implements revisions to improve existing processes to reduce raw material and improve tool life. The Forging Engineer also manages several large projects simultaneously from start to finish and administers cash flow analysis, return on investment and capital appropriation requests.

What you will need: BS in Engineering. Minimum 3-5 years of Engineering experience in manufacturing and forging (preferred). AIAG Core Tools and TS 16949 customer specific requirements proficient. Current experience in Manufacturing, assembly or automotive industry (forging or machining preferred). Experience with 3D CAD systems and AutoCAD. Hot, Warm or Cold forging experience. Pro-E experience. DEFORM simulation software. Experience with lean manufacturing, automation, robotics, and design.
