Director of Materials R&D - Powder Metals/Thermal Spray

Hempstead, New York – Movement Search & Delivery   is working with a growing manufacturing client and due to this growth, they have opened a position for a Director of R&D Materials.

What you will do: The Director of R&D Materials oversees/leads all material R&D departments globally with focus on global processes and efficient utilization of global resources. The position sets global RD strategy and has responsibility for approval, tracking and assignment of all projects related to research, technology and product development of new or improved powders and wires for thermal spray, hard facing, brazing and related surface engineering processes aligned with business needs and the product roadmaps defined by product management. The position explores new powder/wire manufacturing technologies, budgets for RD projects, and ensures projects are completed on time and within technical and financial objectives. additionally, the Director of R&D Materials drives accountability (measured based on KPI such as DTP, Vitality index), excellence in project Management, quality and process standardization across all phases of the Development process from project proposal to commercialization, while also being responsible for the alignment of interfaces with all related departments.

What you will need: PhD in Materials Science/Technology. Strong technical knowledge in coating materials for thermal spray, hard facing, brazing and other powder/wire utilizing processes. Proven track record as leader of a global technology/R&D Group in a multinational company in a technical environment. Product and Process development experience on the international level.
