Farmington Hills, Michigan – Movement Search & Delivery www.movementsearch.com/jobs is working with a national supplier of automotive tier one manufactured goods. Due to recent growth within the company, they have opened a position for a Cost Engineer.
What you will do: The Cost Engineer collaborates with engineers, buyers, and designers in order to develop cost-effective solutions, articulates available cost estimates, cost drivers, and content tradeoffs to teams, and develops piece cost models using activity-based costing methods. The role is responsible for estimating seat assembly and seating components, for translating manufacturing process parameters into cost models and cost estimates, and for providing cost expertise to the organization. The position collaborates globally to improve cost knowledge in all manufacturing locations, develops blank sizes and verify feasibility using fast blank and fast form, and works with plants to develop change cost for existing programs.
What you will need: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering. Current experience in cost engineering. Seat assembly, foam, trim, plastics, and structure product development knowledge. Understanding and experience with seat assembly, foam, trim, plastics, and structure manufacturing. Previous experience with component manufacturing. Assembly process knowledge. Familiarity with stamping presses, 200 – 1000 ton progressive dies and 800 – 1500 transfer presses. Knowledge of die cost and throughput. Familiarity with robotic mig welding and spot welding. Ability to review CAD assemblies to understand assembly process.
