Commodity Specialist - Automotive Stampings

Auburn Hills, Michigan – Movement Search & Delivery    www.movementsearch.com/jobs     is working a tier one supplier of automotive systems and due to the company’s recent growth, they have opened a position for a Commodity Specialist.

What you will do: The Commodity Specialist – Stampings defines/implements the commodity strategy, plans and projects as approved by the purchasing management and investigates/establishes a preferred supplier list that meets the Company’s requirements globally and is aligned to the eRFQ and QA management tools. The role defines contracts, terms and conditions with suppliers, rationalizes the Company’s supplier base, developing key suppliers to meet the strategic objectives, and conducts market testing of specified commodities on an annual basis to ensure competitive sourcing. The position supports the use of the appropriate company and customer procedures, evaluates active supply base vendors on a scheduled basis to provide feedback and corrective actions, and establishes LTA agreements on a global basis, supporting Commodity Buyers for regional agreements. Additionally, the Commodity Specialist – Stampings reviews and investigates emerging markets to identify and deliver a new potential supplier base and supervises, leads, evaluates, and develops departmental personnel to work in a team-based, continuous improvement environment.

What you will need: Bachelor’s Degree. Experience in the automotive industry, preferably tier-one. Experience in supply chain or purchasing. Good working knowledge of procedures, operating methods and managerial practices in commodity supply. Continuous improvement team involvement experience. Knowledge of statutory regulations concerning health, safety and environmental standards. Experience with stampings.
