Commodity Manager - Metals

Troy, Michigan  – Movement Search & Delivery    www.movementsearch.com/jobs     is working with a world leading supplier of innovative parts and systems to the global automotive industry. Due to their growth, they have a newly created position for a Commodity Manager.

What you will do: The Commodity Manager works with operational purchasing to support the assigned commodity team. The position assists in the development and implementation of the commodity strategy in assigned commodities, manages RFQ’s to the supply base according to the commodity strategy to support Operational Purchasing programs (current and new), and evaluates supplier cost structure to obtain best overall value. The role utilizes a total cost approach to optimizing piece prices for assign commodities, tactics to include bundling, global sourcing, multiple sources/competition, specification changes, process optimization, value analysis/value engineering, logistics, and payment term improvement, while also assisting divisions in establishing supplier longterm agreements and supplier giveback terms for all components assigned to him/her. Additionally, the position coordinates supplier development, consolidation and reduction programs, leads divisional cost savings initiatives with negotiation, alternate sourcing strategies and qualifying potential suppliers, and keeps senior management informed of commercial issues through communications and presentations.

What you will need: Bachelor’s degree. Current experience in a purchasing role within an automotive manufacturing environment.  Experience in casting in either aluminum or steel and powdered metals. Familiar with QS9000, TS16949, and ISO14001 procedures.
