Commodity Manager

Lansing,  Michigan – Movement Search and Delivery   www.movementsearch.com    is working with a growing, diversified, publicly traded 40-year-old company that is a leading supplier to the commercial automotive industry. Due to their growth, they have a newly created position for a Commodity Manager, southwest of Lansing.

What you will do: The Commodity Manager is responsible for identifying, developing, and implementing supplier and product value stream improvement initiatives with assigned suppliers or commodities through effective use and support of the strategic sourcing process, cost targeting, supplier performance planning, supplier development and value analysis/value engineering processes. The role develops/maintains development plans for each direct report which lists the most important training needs necessary, leads negotiation of critical agreements that range in value from $1-$20 million, and conducts strategic sourcing for items or commodities. The position negotiates long-term supply agreements with suppliers that support company directives, gathers data in order to analyze a specific commodity and/or supplier for identifying and implementing value add activities, and manages relationships with assigned suppliers. Additionally, the Commodity Manager communicates quality and engineering concepts at a high level with both internal and external resources, is responsible for identifying annual cost savings, and supports special projects and the continuous improvement of processes and systems.

What you will need: Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or Business. Current experience in a commodity manager role. Experience in the automotive manufacturing industry. Experience in sourcing products globally. Purchasing Manager certification is preferred.
