Hempstead, New York – Movement Search & Delivery www.movementsearch.com is working with a growing manufacturing client and due to this growth, they have opened a position for an R&D Engineer – Coatings.
What you will do: The R&D Engineer determines hands-on coating properties such as high-temperature oxidation and corrosion, thermal cycle life, erosion resistance etc. The role performs testing of coated specimens (hands-on) for internal product, develops purposes and utilization equipment such as burner rigs, thermal cycle furnaces, oxidation tests, DSC, and occasionally operates equipment such as Microscope, SEM/EDX. The position implements new and improves existing test procedures, explores new testing capabilities such as for CMAS, and evaluates and manages alternative testing capabilities, while also designing and custom building new equipment. Additionally, the R&DEngineer – Coatings procures new test equipment, outsources to approved external laboratories, performs general maintenance and preventive maintenance of lab areas, purchases of lab supplies, and maintains a high level of good housekeeping in accordance with 5S standards.
What you will need: Master’s degree in materials science and engineering. Knowledge of powder manufacturing. Knowledge and experience on lean practices. Current experience managing a team of engineers.
