Chemical Lab Manager

Hempstead, New York – Movement Search & Delivery www.movementsearch.com/jobs   is working with a growing manufacturing client and due to this growth, they have opened a position for a Lab Supervisor.

What you will do: The Lab Supervisor is responsible for managing the materials R&D powderlab and a small team of technologists and lab engineers. The role develops processing and manufacturing routes of experimental powders (ceramics but also cermets or Metals), supports the materials manufacturing plant for scale up, trouble-shooting and lab services, and explores process improvements and technology enhancements. The position is responsible for coordination between the laboratory and external personnel, provides support for sale and marketing such as for lab tours and training, and manages daily tasks in the laboratory. Additionally, the Lab Manager – Coatings plans/schedules work and resources, trains/develops personnel, and quotes experimental powders, while also confirming schedule, confirmation of work, status update, and notice of delivery.

What you will need: Bachelor or preferably master degree in materials science and engineering. Knowledge of powder manufacturing. Current experience in an R&D laboratory. Experience in a management role within manufacturing. Knowledge and experience with lean practices.
