Assistant Purchasing Manager - Tier One

Northville, Michigan Movement Search & Delivery   www.movementsearch.com    is working with a national supplier of tier-one automotive products. Due to their recent growth, the company has opened a position for an Assistant Purchasing Manager.

What you will do: The Assistant Purchasing Manager plans and manages corporate purchasing activities in support of operational objectives and is responsible for the management of departmental resources leading to a safe and efficient operation. The role ensures policy supports total cost considerations in the selection and approval of suppliers, maintains processes that provides accurate management of purchase orders and release information control, and supports the tactical execution of strategic plans as developed by executive management. The position manages long term agreements to insure the best overall cost, service and dependability, improves processes and procedures to insure compliance to the quality operating system and customer mandated requirements, and manages the approval of suppliers with a process that continually improves our portfolio. Additionally, the Assistant Purchasing Manager improves quoting policy and methods that accurately present opportunities, manages customer owned tooling that is located with suppliers, and ensures that methods are in place to address changes in supply — part change.

What you will need: Bachelor’s Degree. Current purchasing experience in an automotive company. Metals experience. Experience with welding, stamping, forging, or casting. Six sigma/lean experience is preferred.  Formal APICS certification highly desired.
