Gateway Software Engineer

Conyers, Georgia – Movement Search & Delivery   www.movementsearch.com/jobs   is working with a growing, multi-billion dollar manufacturing client. Due to their growth, they have a newly created position for a Gateway Software Engineer.

What you will do: The Gateway Software Engineer participates in product definition, specification and requirements analysis working with cross functional stakeholders and designs, codes, integrates, tests, supports, and enhances software solutions for embedded microprocessors used in wired and wireless communication devices, sensors, and gateways. The role creates product design documentation (architecture, module specifications, schematics, BOM etc.) and maintains it utilizing appropriate configuration management and version control practices. The position communicates design constraints and trade-offs to other team members and management, playing an advisory role as a subject matter expert to ensure that optimal design decisions are made. Additionally, the Gateway Software Engineer performs system integration and validation testing activities, including verification of interoperability within overall solution and assists with evaluating existing and emerging technologies to identify solutions that will reliably operate in a wide range of installed environments.

What you will need: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or Computer Engineering. Evaluation and testing experience of various electronic products. Experience in embedded systems development. Experience developing embedded Android or Linux solutions on ARM platforms. Proficient in high-level structured programming languages (e.g. Java, C, C++) in the Linux or Android environment (SDK, NDK). Experience developing solutions using UARTs or USB on Linux or Android. Experience implementing FTDI based solutions would be a plus. Solid understanding of the OSI model and excellent working knowledge of the key protocols from Layer 2 through Layer 7 and experience with programming using IP Networking protocols (IPv4, IPv6, RIPv2, SNMP, DHCP, TFTP, FTP, TCP, UDP). Experience deploying security features for IP networks including firewalls, intrusion detection, attack prevention, encryption, auditing, etc. is highly desired.
