Hybrid Vehicles Functional Safety Engineer

Troy, Michigan – Movement Search & Delivery   www.movementsearch.com/jobs  is working with an international supplier to the automotive industry. Due to recent growth, the company has opened a position for a Functional Safety Engineer.

What you will do: The Functional Safety Engineer is responsible for ensuring that high voltage battery systems comply with ISO-26262 and related standards for safety. The role owns/maintains battery system technical safety concept and related documentation, reviews/assesses customer requirements for relevant safety implications and feasibility, and owns/maintains safety-related fault analyses across electrical and electronics hardware and embedded software. The position works closely with internal and external engineering teams, suppliers, and customer to ensure coordinated safety compliance from specifications to design to production, while also leading system safety design reviews. Additionally, the Functional Safety Engineer maintains/enhances battery system design guides to capture lessons learned and continuous improvement and delivers the system safety plans and reports in a timely manner.

What you will need: BMS in System, Electrical, Automotive or Aerospace Engineering or a BS with strong experience. ISO-26262 working experience in qualifying systems with embedded HW and SW to ASCIL levels A, B and C. Working knowledge of High Voltage systems and designs associated with safety and related risk mitigation. Experience in the design and testing of energy storage systems for use in vehicle applications. Experience with simulation tools, in particular Matlab and Simulink. Extensive experience with FMEA and FTA at system and subsystem level for safety-critical systems.
