Tier One Mechanical Engineer - Carbon Canisters

Farmington Hills, Michigan – Movement Search & Delivery   www.movementsearch.com   is working with a 10,000 employee tier one supplier to the automotive industry.  Due to their growth, they have a newly created position for a Mechanical Engineer – Carbon Canisters.

What you will do: The Mechanical Development Engineer – Carbon Canisters is responsible for performing design for assembly at the concept phase of each program, creating and maintaining FMEA, BOM, design validations, product verification plans, and providing direction to designer for GD&T and dimensional stackups/layouts. Additionally, the role coordinates creation of concept drawings for preliminary evaluation and presentations, using designer support per customer/supplier and manufacturing requirements and assures accurate completion of 3D Models and 2D drawings/assembly drawings. This position provides not only direction to CAD team on fit, function and design standards, but also direction in the use and development of analytical tools, such as C.A.E., testing methodology, air flow/noise modeling and engine modeling. The Development Engineer – Carbon Canisters is the main point of contact with internal/external customers.

What you will need: Mechanical Engineering Degree. Current experience in a senior level manufacturing role with emphasis on pump mechanics. Experience with carbon canisters. Understanding of current engine control systems and working knowledge of GD & T. Knowledge of engine oil cooler systems, transmission oil warmers and engine cooling systems. Product development experience with current experience in automotive field with ability to detect and resolve design and mfg. issues. Experience with DFA, DFM, FMEA, DOE, DVP&R and PVP&R processes.
